General
The league will consist of 12 managers. Each manager should be extremely knowledgeable and serious about hockey and this particular fantasy pool. Hopefully we will not have to worry about this, but if it is determined that a manager has given up and failed to stay active with his teams, he/she will be removed from the league and will be replaced. The league will Head-to-Head format, using yahoo. The top 6 teams will make the playoffs, which will consist of the last four weeks of the regular season of the NHL. The stats counting are listed below.
Fees
Entry fee will be $50 in year one, but is subject to increase upon majority vote. This must be paid on or before the draft day with no exceptions. Failure to comply will result in your team being auctioned off.
Payouts
Payouts (based on 12 teams and $50 entry fees) will be as follows:
a. 1st place (playoffs) will receive $300
b. 2nd place (playoffs) will receive $150
c. 3rd place (playoffs) will receive $50
d. The team who finishes first overall at the end of the regular season will receive $100
Rosters
Each manager will have a pro team and a farm team.
a. Each pro team will consist of a 23 man roster which includes goaltenders.
b. A maximum of four goaltenders is allowed per team and a minimum of two goaltenders
is also required. No other position has limits.
c. Each farm team will consist of 6 players of any position.
d. For scoring purposes, each pro team will have 3 possible line combinations consisting of a center, left wing, right wing, and two defensemen. This rule is not a minimum. You can choose to have less than three of the positions, but your scoring roster will consist of these positions. With three lines, each manager has to implement “scoring lines” and maybe a “checking line” for PIMs.
e. Roster will be updated daily.
f. There will be 3 IR spots per team. Although if you put a guy on the IR, you still only have one free agent to sign all year.
g. If a minimum of 2 goalie starts in a week is not reached, the team will lose there 6th round draft pick. If it is done twice the team will lose their 6th and 5th round picks and so. The order of losing picks is 6th to 1st, then 9th to 7th.
Farm Rosters
Each farm team may consist of any number of players and any number of positions, as long as it is at or under the maximum of 6 players. Any player must be drafted into the NHL to be drafted in the Pro or Farm Draft, and have played under 100 games in the NHL.
a. Each player may be called up to your pro team at any time during the regular season or the offseason. However, because we are using Yahoo’s scoring system, you may want to make sure that Yahoo has your player in their system before you call him up. If Yahoo doesn’t have him in their system, he will not be able to accumulate points for you.
b. To add a farm team player, you must drop a pro team player (to the waiver wire), if they have played more than 100 NHL games. If they have played less than 100 games, you may demote them back to your farm roster. Once a player reaches 100 nhl played games they must be called to your pro team, or they will be dropped. The reason for this is to keep managers from putting active NHL players on their farm team roster. If you are dropping an active NHL player, he should be available to the rest of the league.
c. The only way to add farm players are through drafting, trading, or demoting from your pro roster.
Stats Counting
Skaters - G, A, P, +/-, PIM, PPG, PPP, SHP, SOG, FW, GWG
Goalies - GS, W, L, Save%, GAA, SO, Shots, Saves
Keepers
At the end of the season, you will be able to keep 17 players from your roster. This will allow you to keep all three of your top lines and both starting goalies. And entire farm team.
Keepers will be due at the end of the summer with the entire off-season and NHL playoffs to make trades.
Free Agency
a. Each team will be allowed ten (10) free agent signings, from the day the season start till the trade deadline. ***Update: FA moves in yahoo will be set at 20; 10 for pro adds like last year, 10 for farm team add.
b. Calling up a player from your farm team and dropping a pro player, either to free agency, or back to your farm team will not count as a free agent addition. This will be done by the commish and will not count as one of your 5 on the yahoo. To go about this, simply post your move, and Ill update it. BUT these moves (Farm moves only) can only be posted on Sundays and therefore reflected on teams rosters for Mondays, for a new week. Again moves are to be posted in yahoo.
Drafting
Each year we will hold 1 draft (with the exception of year one).
a. Each year the draft will be held online. The draft will take place in the League Forum, shortly after this years entry draft.
b. The draft will consist of 6 Pro rounds, then 3 farm rounds. A pro player (in the first 6 rounds) must have played at least one game in the NHL (regular season), while a farm player (rounds 7-9) can't have played more than 100 NHL games. After the 9 round draft all teams will have 2 weeks to cut their Rosters down to 23 pro players, and 6 farm players.
c. Once the season has completed, you will have three (3) weeks to submit your keeper rosters. You may keep 17 players from your pro team, and ALL of your farm team.
d. Draft positions will be based on the rankings BEFORE the playoffs for the bottom 6 teams, and AFTER playoffs for the top 6 teams.
e. Year one's draft will be snake order, eg (123,321). Years two and after will be NHL style, eg (123,123)
f. There will be draft lottery for the bottom 4 teams in the regular season for the top 4 picks. The bottom 4 teams will be matched with the bottom 4 teams in the NHL. The results of the NHL draft lottery will determine to top 4 picks.
Year one’s draft will be composed of two drafts.
i. The first draft will serve as our expansion draft. Draft order will be drawn from a hat and 23 rounds will be used to select each manager’s pro team.
ii. A secondary draft will be concluded to fill each team’s farm team. The first year we will hold a six round draft for farm players. Farm players may include anyone who is drafted in the NHL and has played under 100 games in the NHL.
Trading
a. Each team is required to make at least one trade throughout the year. This is to keep all mangers active. If this is not followed, the managers not making one trade all year, will loose their top 2 picks in the following years draft.
b. Draft picks for the following 3 years can be traded by teams.
c. If you trade away draft picks, you will be able to finish out your roster with remaining players after the draft. This is so people don't have to waste one of their 5,10, or 15 WW moves the next year to fill their roster if they traded their picks the year before.
KHL Players
Any player that leaves the NHL to go play in the KHL, and is on your team, will be allowed to be placed on your farm roster. This player will take up one of your 6 spots, and will not be alloted his own, 7th, spot. The player can be kept on the farm team as long as the manager desires.
